Players are starting to settle in and get comfortable, especially at the outer table where the chips have begun to fly. Soi Nguyen tumbled from the top of the counts after doubling up Duy Le and John Racener drew closer to the 20 million mark, and Matthew Jarvis cracked the top three counts thanks to a long and big pot against Matt Affleck.

We’ve got the details on all those pots, plus other action from the first half of Level 31 (Blinds 80,000/160,000 ante 20,000) of Day 8 of the 2010 WSOP Main Event:

Robert Pisano Eliminated in 23rd Place ($317,161)

Soi Nguyen opened for 340,000 and Robert Pisano called all in for the exact amount of Nguyen’s raise out of the small blind. Pascal LeFrancois called from the big blind and the trio went to a flop of Q T 2. LeFrancois bet and Nguyen folded. The hands were tabled and Pisano had J 9 for an open-ended straight draw to LeFrancois’ Q 8 for top pair. Pisano needed a king or eight to make a straight, but the turn brought the 2 and the river came J to eliminate Pisano and give Nguyen the pot.

William Thorson Eliminated in 22nd Place ($317,161)

John Dolan raised from the hijack, John Racener called from the cutoff, and Brandon Steven called on the button. William Thorson was in the big blind and announced all in for his remaining 5 million chips. Dolan folded, Racener quietly called, and Steven got out of the way. Thorson’s JT needed to do some work to catch Racener’s KK. The A62 flop brought him a flush draw, but there were no more diamonds as the cards ran out 2 then 5 to eliminated Thorson in 22nd place.

After the hand, Racener was up to 19 million chips and he is currently sitting on approximately 21 million midway through the level.

Duy Le Doubles Thru Soi Nguyen

Soi Nguyen opened for 350,000 and Duy Le reraised to 1.35 million. Nguyen called and the flop came K K T. Both players checked and headed to the 6 turn. Nguyen checked again and Le bet 1.4 million. Nguyen called and the 6 came on the river. Nguyen moved all in and Le snap called for 2.75 million. Nguyen tabled 7 6 for a rivered full house and Le had A K for a bigger full house.

“That’s the record for fastest call,” Adam Levy said.

Le is up to over 11 million and Nguyen slid to 14 million.

Matt Affleck vs. Matthew Jarvis

Jason Senti raised to 380,000 from the button and Matt Affleck reraised to 1.2 million from the small blind. Matthew Jarvis called, Senti folded, and the flop came Q94. Affleck bet 1.6 million and Jarvis called. The turn was the J, Affleck bet 2.7 million and Jarvis raised to 6.2 million total. Affleck called and the river was the 2. Affleck checked, Jarvis went all-in for 4.9 million, and Affleck folded, leaving himself just under 5 million. Jarvis was up to 23 million.

Later, the duo of Matts got it all in preflop for Affleck’s remaining 4,485,000 with Affleck holding pocket aces to Jarvis’ AK. The board ran out A7235 and Affleck doubled up to just shy of 10 million chips.
