Rumor du Jour: CakePoker Sold to PokerListings
Rumors about poker sites being sold have been almost a daily occurrence since the UIGEA passed 4.5 years ago. Most of them are bogus but the latest has a little bit of momentum behind it.
CakePoker, the former home of DoylesRoom.com and once the fastest growing online poker network on the planet, has apparently been purchased by PokerListings.com. The rumor first surfaced late last week but through various sources BLUFF has confirmed that the deal is 90% likely to get finished in the next 15 days.
The Cake Poker Network currently includes Poker Pro’s Network, Phil Laak’s UnabomberPoker.com, Victory Poker as well as a number of other smaller operators. DoylesRoom, LockPoker.com and Sportsbook.com have all left the network in the past year and the overall liquidity of the network has taken a nosedive.
Debating the Merits of the Royal Flush Girls
One of the many changes to the World Poker Tour broadcasts this season is the addition of the Royal Flush Girls. Six models making their way around the tournament area and frolicking in the pool were designed to improve the broadcast product and bring a little bit of that “sex sells” magic to the show.
Others in the poker community are debating whether or not that’s a good thing or bad thing for the game of poker. Martin Harris and Jennifer Newell took to the “He Said / She Said” column in Woman Poker Player Magazine to state their case.
Harris’ take is what you’d expect from the guy in this debate and Newell’s is exactly what you’d expect from the female in the debate. Newell’s quick to raise some pretty valid points about the currently limited role the Royal Flush Girls are playing on the show compared to what everybody was told they’d be doing.
“…the women would be integral in further engaging players in the tournament experience, possibly through on-site challenges or fun events at the stops on the tour,” Newell wrote. In the episodes that have aired so far the RFG have been largely responsible for being their when the show returned from commercial or seen randomly walking through the crowd during the footage from the early days of the event.
Both perspectives are certainly worth the read:

Play With Trishelle Cannatella. Sorry No Hot Tub Included.
AbsolutePoker pro Trishelle Cannatella has added a $15,000 Guaranteed tournament on Tuesday afternoon to her hosting duties. The former MTV Real World star already hosts a $10,000 Guaranteed tournament on Tuesday nights. In both tournaments the player lucky enough to eliminate Cannatella collects a $215 bounty allowing them to enter the weekly $200,000 Guaranteed tournament on Sunday.
“I’m so excited that Absolute Poker is giving me another tournament to host on Tuesdays,” said Cannatella. ”My 10k tournament has surpassed the guarantee every week and I’m hoping the same success for this one.”
If playing with Cannatella is of interest to you and you don’t yet have an AbsolutePoker account we suggest signing-up for one right here.
If you don’t get the hot tub reference, we’ll direct you to this.
Maybe the Craziest Poker Hand Ever
Look, there’s an unwritten rule that says don’t turn your hand over until the dealer forces you to do so. Here’s why:

i would read newell’s comments on the royal flush girls, but i really can’t respect a professional writer that doesn’t use the proper there/their. that’s like a pro poker player doing what alfredo just did in that hand.
