The Asian Poker Tour (APT) continues to make inroads in the Asian market and after two successful tour stops in Macau and the Philippines earlier this year the upstart tour has announced they’re heading back to the Phillippines capital, Manila.

“After consultation with players, online partners, and sponsors, a comprehensive schedule is now being planned for 2009 to successfully meet the needs of all concerned. We are looking forward to enhancing poker’s presence in Asia,” said Chris Parker, CEO of the APT.  

The first APT Philippines event featured a $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool and attracted 316 players. The tournament was won by Australian poker pro David Saab, who walked away with the $280,000 US top prize.

The only other event held in 2008 was the APT Macau tournament in late August. The event featured an even bigger guaranteed prize pool of $1,500,000 US and was won by U.S.-based poker pro Yevgeniy Timoshenko. 

The APT is also promising to announce details on an expanded tour schedule for 2009 in the coming weeks.
