Bodog Pros make a Splash in Inauguaral Bodog Poker Open Event

The first event of the inaugural Bodog Poker Open kicked off last night in the Bodog Poker Room, with 377 rounders looking to make Bodog Poker history and gunning for an impressive $26,063.50 first place cash prize. The field itself built a prize pool of $94,250 but that total was boosted another $10,000 by Bodog, giving players greater value for their buy-ins.

Among the players competing in Event #1 were Team Bodog pros Evelyn Ng, Josh Arieh and David Williams as well as many of online poker’s best, including “Annette_15″ Obrestad, Kevin “beLOWaBOVe” Saul, Marco “CrazyMarco” Johnson, Garret “GBecks” Beckman, Smith “nevertilt22″ Collins, Jon “PearlJammer” Turner, Jared “TheWacoKidd” Hamby, Eric “Rizen” Lynch and Thayer “Thay3r” Rasmussen.

In the end, it was the players who don the black and red of Team Bodog who shined in Event #1 with both Ng and Arieh battling their way through the tough field to make it to the final table, where Ng ended up in second, good for a $16,680 payday, and Arieh finished third to cash $11,571.75.

Outdoing the two Bodog pros was online player “Rusostreet,” who not only earned $26,062.50 for the win and an automatic seat to the Bodog Poker Open’s Main Event this Sunday, but he also earned the distinction of winning the Bodog Poker Open’s first ever event.

Rounding out the final table last night in Event #1 were “Dyzalot” (4th for $8,340), “crazyz987″ (5th for $6,255), “organoman” (6th for $4,691.25), “joncubs69″ (7th for $3,648.75), “Quahog Kid” (8th for $2,710.50) and “croth8″ (9th for $1,772.25).

Event #2, the $300 + $25 buy-in No Limit Holdem (6-handed), gets underway tonight, at 8:00 pm EST, and Bodog will once again juice the pot by adding $10,000 in additional money to the cash prize purse. Players can still satellite into any of the preliminary events through qualifiers running twice daily in the Bodog Poker Room.

The five preliminary events of the Bodog Poker Open all lead up to the series’ championship, the $500 Buy-In Bodog Poker Open Main Event, which will be held on Sunday, March 9 at 4:00 pm EST. To sweeten the pot even more than the series’ preliminary events, Bodog is adding a whopping $25,000 in additional money to the championship’s total prize purse. In the end, the inaugural Bodog Poker Champion will be crowned and walk away with the top cash prize and an engraved Omega Speedmaster watch valued at $4,400.

Qualifiers to the $500 buy-in Main Event are running daily at BodogLife.com, with 20 seats guaranteed every weekday night through this Friday.
