Isildur1 - Newest PokerStars Team Pro

Isildur1, the mysterious player who became legendary in 2009 for winning–and eventually losing–millions of dollars online playing at nosebleed stakes, has signed with PokerStars as the latest member of Team PokerStars Pro. In a statement, Isildur1 said of his signing:

“I chose to join PokerStars because it’s the biggest site and it will be an exciting challenge,” Isildur1 said. “It means a great deal to be playing in a team alongside players such as Daniel Negreanu, Dario Minieri and Johnny Lodden.”

Part of that challenge includes the announcement of the Isildur1 SuperStar Showdown, heads-up matches consisting of 2,500 hands of no-limit holdem or pot-limit Omaha against open challengers and invited opponents. The heads-up matches, starting December 19, will be held at stakes of at least $50/$100 over four tables, with the winner of each match winning an additional 300 big blinds ($30,000). For those with smaller bankrolls, online qualifiers can take on Isildur1 by playing 2,500 hands at stakes of $5/$10 with a $15,000 bankroll provided by Pokerstars.

The PokerStars announcement mentions Isildur1 MAY be revealed to the public before the PokerStars PCA in January, but for now he or she will appear on Twitter as @RealIsildur1. The full announcement can be read on PokerStars blog here.
