Demidov, Eastgate Set To Recreate 2008 WSOP Finale For Charity

Last year Peter Eastgate and Ivan Demidov met in a heads-up match for the most prestigious tournament title in poker - not to mention more than $9 million for first place. Eastgate came out on top to become the youngest champion in World Series of Poker history, but tomorrow Demidov will have a chance to avenge his loss when the two young stars meet again online.

The match will begin at 6 pm ET on Friday, June 26, on PokerStars, and will recreate the exact same circumstances as the heads-up final of the 2008 WSOP Main Event. That means Eastgate will start with 80.3 million in chips to Demidov’s 56.6 million in chips, with 120K/240K blinds and 30K antes. On the line will be $10,000 for a charity of the winner’s choosing; Eastgate will play for the Danish Refugee Council, while Demidov will represent The Hospice Charity Fund “Vera” INN.

Though Eastgate did have the chip lead when the two began heads-up play last November, Demidov was able to jump ahead in the early going. The young Dane pulled back ahead when his queen-high beat Demidov’s jack-high, though, and managed to hold on through the end of the 15-hour, 39-minute final. Poker fans from around the world will have the opportunity to watch the entire match by downloading the free PokerStars client software.
