Doyle Brunson Heading to Macau for Asian Poker Tour Event

The field at the next stop on the Asian Poker Tour just got a little bit tougher. Tour organizers today announced that Doyle Brunson and his son Todd Brunson will be in Macau later this month to take part in the APT Macau.

The Brunsons join J.C. Tran, Nam LeQuinn Do and APT Philippines champion David Saab in the $5,000 buy-in event’s field. The guaranteed $1.5 million US prize pool, with $500,000 slated for the winner, is also bound to attract other top players to the event which is scheduled for August 28 -31.

“We are proud to have the number one name in poker, Doyle Brunson attending the Asian Poker Tour,” said Matt Savage, tournament director for APT. “Doyle is the one player who has seen it all in the poker industry so it is appropriate that he will be there to witness the next boom - poker in Asia”

But Doyle isn’t heading across the Pacific just for the tournament. As is the case with any large tournament, the side action is just as appealing as the tournament itself. APT organizers will be feeding that interest with a HK$1,000,000 ($130,000 US) buy-in cash game.

Brunson will be joined in that game by high stakes cash game player Kenny Tran, Indonesian businessman Michael Sampoerna, and Chris Parker, the CEO of the APT. The game is tentatively scheduled to be held on August 29 and will feature blinds of HK$1,000/HK$2,000 with an ante.
