Peter Eastgate might be helpless in watching his year as World Champion come to an end in the next few weeks but he’s doing everything he can to go out with a bang. Eastgate is second in chips at the PokerStars European Poker Tour London stop as the final eight players await Wednesday’s final table.
The only player that Eastgate, who finished with 3,535,000 chips, trails is Aaron Gustavson who has more than double that total with 7,140,000. Gustavon is the lone remaining American at a table that features eight players from eight different countries.
The day started with 24 players including Annette Obrestad, Theo Tran, Marty Smyth, Vivek Rajkumar and November Niner Kevin Schaffel but none of those players survived to see the eight-handed TV final table. Rajkumar was eliminated 9th place on the TV table bubble.
The record setting 730-player generated a prizepool of £3,540,500 with first place paying £850,000. The first player to bust out Wednesday will bank £50,100. Action resumes with blinds of 40,000-80,000 and a 10,000 ante Wednesday at 8 am ET.
