EPT: Soulier Soars Over a Million Chips in Berlin
- Jessica Welman | April 8, 2011
It was an action-packed day at the PokerStars.net EPT Berlin Main Event as 353 players took the table at the start of Day2, but only 120 were still alive by day’s end just shy of six levels later.
The good news for the 120 players headed into Day 3 is that they are all in the money. The bad news is that chip leader Fabrice Soulier is starting to put some distance between himself and the rest of the field. The Frenchman is the only player over 1 million chips, while his next closest competitor, Alessandro Laubinger, has 742,400.
While Soulier ended the day on top, the start of day chip leader, Sander Berndsen, exited early in the day. Other Day 2 eliminations included Davidi Kitai, Tobias Reinkemeier, McLean Karr,Jeff Sarwer, Team PokerStars Pros Sandra Naujoks, Arnaud Mattern, and Jan Heitmann, Nicolas Chouity, and Matt Affleck.
Roberto Romanello, Per Linde, Jeff Hakim, Vladimir Geshkenbein, Cornel Cimpan, Mayu Roc Uribe, Peter Eastgate, and Team PokerStars Pros Sebastian Ruthenberg and George Danzer are just a few of the players returning for Day 3 on Friday.
The plan for Day 3 is to cut the field down to the final 24, which means there is another carnage-filled da on the horizon at the Spielbank Berlin Casino.
Here are the chip counts headed into Day 3 of the PokerStars.net EPT Berlin Main Event:
1. Fabrice Soulier – 1,079,400
2. Alessandro Laubinger – 742,400
3. Giuseppe Pantaleo – 578,500
4. Thorsten Schafer – 541,000
5. Martin Jacobson – 539,400
6. Henrique Pinho – 518,100
7. Mario Adinolfi – 456,000
8. Darin Kramer – 446,500
9. Alexis Morlet – 383,400
10. Tristan Clemencon – 379,400
