EPT Warsaw: Vaserfirer Leads, Pagano Makes Fifth EPT Final Table
- Jason Kirk | October 24, 2009
Two Russians, two Italians, two Ukrainians, a Canadian, and a Frenchman make up tomorrow’s final table of the EPT Warsaw main event.
Oleksandr Vaserfirer holds the lead with 1,854,000 chips going into the final table. The Ukrainian pro has already cashed in three EPT events during this young season, but this is by far his most successful event yet. He lead is quite dominating at this point, with his closest competitors holding a little more than half of the chips that he has in his stack. Vaserfirer is friends with 2007 WSOP Main Event final tablist Alex Kravchenko, who has been railing him and offering support along the way.
In second place with 984,000 chips is Team PokerStars Pro’s Luca Pagano. The 31-year-old Italian has enjoyed immense success at the EPT felt in the past, cashing 11 times, making four final tables, and winning the EPT Player of the Year award for the tour’s fourth season. In fact, Pagano currently ranks second on the EPT’s all-time money list.
Just behind Pagano is Clayton Mozdzen of Canada, who qualified for the event in a $20 rebuy satellite online. The SuperNova Elite led the tournament at the end of Day 2 and holds 978,000 in chips heading to the final table.
First prize for the tournament, which drew 203 players, is 1,493,170 PLN (US $538,215). The full final table lineup looks like this:
Seat 1: Luca Pagano (Italy) - 984,000
Seat 2: Anatoly Gurtavoy (Russia) - 332,000
Seat 3: Oleksandr Vaserfirer (Ukraine) - 1,854,000
Seat 4: Alexander Klimashin (Russia) - 266,000
Seat 5: Clayton Mozdzen (Canada) - 978,000
Seat 6: Ruslan Prydyk (Ukraine) - 658,000
Seat 7: Alfio “aLFioSn0b” Battisti (Italy) - 552,000
Seat 8: Christophe Benzimra (France) - 465,000
