FTOPS #15: $500+35 HORSE

The big event of the evening brought out 442 entrants, including some of poker’s biggest names. But it would be thechemist83 that won the gold jersey over a tough field.

Erick Lindgren, Scott Clements, Chris Ferguson, Allen Cunningham, Vitaly Lunkin, and host Berry Johnston took their shot of the $250,000 prize pool, but fell short of the money.

John D’Agostino, Tristan “cre8ive” Wade, Mike “GoLeafsGoEh” Leah and Josh Arieh were some of the 56 players made the money, but they did not make the final table.

From the time they hit the money newly signed Red Pro Marc Karam held the chiplead all the way to the final table. Combined with dfunks222 they had more than half the chips in play. Comandr_Cool trailed the pair and currently holds 3rd place in 2010 BLUFF OPOY standings.

Starting the final table close to 4:00 a.m. here’s the chip counts by seat:

  1. POCKET FIVE – 138,878
  2. thechemist83 – 88,564
  3. dfunks222 – 507,205
  4. gYPSYtearss – 91,088
  5. herdgolf86 – 126,064
  6. Comandr_Cool – 207,661
  7. tuudey – 69,454
  8. Marc Karam – 596,088

During a round of Omaha HiLo tuudey committed the last 32,454 of his chips from the small blind and was called by Karam and dfunks222. They continued to build the pot the entire way when Karam tabled A A T 2 for the nut flush and eliminated tuudey in 8th place.

On the very next hand Comandr_Cool three-bet from the cutoff preflop and was called by gYPSYtears. They got it all-in on the turn of 3 6 J 5 and Comandr_Cool needed a diamond for a flush but gYPSYtears had flopped two-pair. The river came J and missed the flush sending Comandr_Cool out in 7th.

During a round of Razz POCKET FIVE opened with 5 7 4 but was called by Karam. Unfortunately, the deck ran cold for POCKET FIVE and paired his 5, 7 and Kings. Karam made a 9 low and eliminated POCKET FIVE in 6th place. Then herdgolf86 ran short and committed his chips, but gYPSYtearss opened with 7 2 5 and eventually made a 7-6-5-3-2 low send herdgolf86 to the rail in 5th place.

The game switched to Stud Hi and gYPSYtearss looked a beautiful 8 9 8 and started building the pot. He was called by dfunks22 showing the A. gYPSYtearss never improved his 8s, despite having four hearts up, and was done in 4th place.

It wasn’t until three-way play that Karem lost the chip lead. An Ace high club flush for dfunks22 swung the tables around. The trio played until they struck an even chop deal as no one could gain advantage on the others.

Karam was ousted in 3rd place when his two-pair was trumped by dfunks222 higher two-pair with Kings and Fives. The final hand was decided in a round of Limit Hold’em. Holding pocket Jacks thechemist83 got dfunks222 to go all-in on a 8 6 9 board with only King high. The board finished 5 T and eliminated dfunks222 in 2nd place.
