Hamagami defeated some stiff competition to notch his first FTOPS win

FTOPS XVII is almost over and done with, but there is still plenty of action to be had at Full Tilt Poker, including the second day of the prestigious $2,000 buy-in Two-day event. The high buy-in tournament drew 994 runners, resulting in a small $12,000 overlay on the $2 million guaranteed prize pool. Ninety-one of those player will take to the felts again on Sunday with IReadYrSoul leading the way with 202,368 chips headed into 500/1,000 ante 125 blinds.

Several Red Pros are still alive and kicking in the event as well, including David Pham, Steve Zolotow, Toto Leonidas, and David Colclough. Those Red Pros are joined by a stellar line up of MTT regs, several of whom will begin Day 2 of play on Sunday with some massive stacks. Here are the top ten chip leaders from the end of Day 1:

1. IReadYrSoul – 202,368
2. Mclean “PureProfitFour” Karr – 175,763
3. Mutha Flushaa – 158,287
4. Squeezeboxx – 148,007
5. ComeNgeTTiT – 147,269
6. Eric “blizair” Blair – 133,042
7. Klausen – 132,320
8. Rucci03 – 124,152
9. David Pham – 123,655
10. auhoman – 118,954

While the Two-day event still has a ways to go before someone claims the massive top prize of $417,000, two other FTOPS events saw their way to completion on Saturday. The $100 PLO Rebuy event went to Clark “Snake8484” Hamagami, who defeated an absolutely brutal final table that included the likes of Yevgeniy “bballer88” Timoshenko, David “Bussa Buss” Baker, Luke “_FullFlush1_” Schwartz, and Mario “Pwnasaurus” Silvestri. Hamagami earned $92,000 for the victory as well as his first gold jersey.

Brendon “Brendooor” Rubie took down the $515 KO Super Turbo for a similar payout. He collected over $91,000 for the win. Daniel “KudelyKQ” Makowsky also made the final table of that event, finishing in fourth place.

There is only one day of FTOPS action left and it looks like the Player of the Series race is going to come down to the wire. Mike “chapmoney” Chappus still holds on to the lead, but OGURII is now just five points behind the two-time jersey winner thanks to another top twenty finish on Saturday. There are plenty of others who can make a final table and overtaje the top spot as well, so we’ll be keeping a close eye on the $240 Six-handed Knockout event, the $150 Rush Rebuy event, and, of course, the $600 buy-in FTOPS Main Event.

Those three events boast nearly $5 million in guaranteed prize pools and will all get underway on Sunday. Until the cards are in the air for those final tournaments, feast your eyes on the results from Saturday’s action:
