FTOPS XVII: Mike “chapmoney” Chappus One of a Trio of Winners

Thursday’s FTOPS XVII action brought a trio of jersey winners and a trio of former champs who came up just short of claiming another victory. In the winner’s circle, we’ve got nolez7, Mike “chapmoney” Chappus, and BacoPride. Nolez7 got down to three-handed play with two previous winners in the first-ever Rush PLO Hi-Lo FTOPS event, Chris “maxxscam” Back and RymesWOrange. BacoPride was the biggest winner in three-way chop at the $500 HORSE event final table, while the FTOPS XVI Main Event winner, Kirbynator, had to settle for fifth place.

Jeff Madsen held it down for the Red Pros, final tabling the four round 6-Handed Turbo Shootout Event and ultimately finishing in third place. Madsen’s final table arguably garnered the most attention of the day thanks in part to the presence of fellow known names like Chappus, Josh “professor plum” Prager, and Karl “discomonkey” Fenton, but it was a name that no one had seen before that really sparked people’s interest.

The sixth place screenname in the event was playing his first-ever tournament on FTP and it was not difficult to figure out the player was new to the scene, as he was called “FTOPS XVII HERO.” A quick visit to the pokerdb confirmed that it was the screenname’s first tournament on the site and this was not an instance of someone with an incredible amount of foresight who was really looking forward to playing in this tournament series.  The player behind the screenname also posted in a thread on PocketFives.com, explaining some of his final table behavior, which included some potentially problematic chat while players were involved in a hand.

Friday’s FTOPS XVII agenda includes a $200 No Limit Hold’em Cubed Event, a $300 Super Turbo tournament, and a $200 Stud Hi-Lo event. Thursday’s Rush PLO Hi-Lo event only took five and a half hours to see through to completion, but you can rest assured that the Super Turbo event will beat that running time by a margin. To find out how long the Super Turbo took and, more importantly, who took it down, keep checking in to BLUFFMagazine.com for all your FTOPS XVII updates.
