GSN Confirms High Stakes Poker Season 6 Lineup, Scott As Co-Host
- Jason Kirk | November 5, 2009
Cable network GSN officially launched the sixth season of High Stakes Poker in a press release today, answering more than a few questions that have had fans hanging on with anticipation since word was first leaked that HSP would be returning.

Kara Scott will be the new co-host of High Stakes Poker
The first order of speculation laid to rest was that of the identity of Gabe Kaplan’s new co-host. Kara Scott, who has plenty of previous experience doing televised poker from both on the felt and off, will be the new face on the show. After making her mark on televised poker in Europe, this will be the first poker show that Scott has been a part of in the United States. According to GSN, “Scott will report from the High Stakes Poker suite, interviewing poker players about poker strategy, big hands and the table dynamics.”
The other bit of information that fans have been waiting for, this season’s lineup of players, was also confirmed in the press release. Familiar HSP pros Patrik Antonius, David Benyamine, Doyle Brunson, Tom “durrrr” Dwan, Eli Elezra, Antonio Esfandiari, Barry Greenstein, Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, Mike Matusow, and Daniel Negreanu will all be back at the table this season, as well as Season 5 high-stakes amateur and Wind-Up Records president Allan Meltzer.
Added to the mix this time around to keep things interesting will be a number of European players. EPT Dortmund winner Andreas Hoivold, London businessman and high-stakes player Sammy “Any Two” George, online high-stakes cash game pro Lex “RaSZi” Velhuis, and 2009 WPT Championship and 2009 WCOOP Main Event winner Yevgeniy Timoshenko will all take a seat at the table. The only new face from this side of the pond announced so far is 2008 WSOP Main Event third-place finisher Dennis Phillips.
While a few things might be changing this season, one thing is not: the game is still a $200,000 minimum buy-in, making it the biggest action on television. Season 6 of High Stakes Poker will premiere on February 14, 2010, airing Sunday nights at 8:00 PM ET, with encore airings Sundays at 11:00 PM and 2:00 AM ET, on GSN.
