Heimiller Takes Huge Chip Lead to Day 4 of WPT Borgata Poker Open
- Lance Bradley | September 17, 2008
Dan Heimiller already has a World Series of Poker bracelet. If the next two days go according to plan, he’ll be adding a World Poker Tour title to his resume.
Heimiller leads after Day 3 at the WPT Borgata Poker Open in Atlantic City with 2,870,000. He has quite a comfortable lead with more than 1 million more chips than Vivek Rajkumar who sits in second with 1,756,000.
The day started with 68 players taking their seats at the Borgata Hotel & Casino with plans on bringing home the $1,424,500 first place prize. But over the eight hours of play 41 players were sent packing, leaving only 27 to return on Wednesday.
Thayer “THAY3R” Rasmussen, who led after Day 2, sits in third place with 1,413,000. There were a couple of high profile players eliminated from play on Day 3.
Tiffany Michelle was eliminated in 46th place by Michael Binger. The last woman standing at the 2008 WSOP added another $15,000 to her career winnings. Binger finished the day with 718,000 chips, good enough for 12th largest remaining stack.
Another player who made a big splash at the WSOP Main Event this year, Brandon Cantu, didn’t survive the day but with a 32nd place showing took home $21,000.
But not all of the big names managed to survive past the bubble. Joe Sebok, Nick Shulman, Robert Mizrachi, Jonathan Little and Lee Markholt all busted before the money and will leave Borgata empty-handed. The average stack is just over 750,000 and the remaining players will play down to the final six players who will make up the TV final table.
