High Stakes Poker, poker’s highest rated and most discussed TV show, will return to GSN with its sixth season. Slated to premiere on Valentine’s Day, February 14, at 8:00 p.m. EST, HSP brings back poker’s biggest stars and promises an action packed season.
Season six brings back familiar faces and a few players making their first appearance on HSP. Scheduled to appear are Patrik Antonius, David Benyamine, Doyle Brunson, Tom “durrrr” Dwan, Eli Elezra, BLUFF columnist Antonio Esfandiari, Barry Greenstein, Phil Hellmuth, Andreas Hoivold, Phil Ivey, Mike Matusow, Daniel Negreanu, Dennis Phillips and Lex “RaSZi” Veldhuis.
Also scheduled to appear are 2009 BLUFF Player of the Year Jason Mercier, Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier, Gus Hansen, Sammy “Any Two” George, and Yevgeniy Timoshenko.
Returning to the broadcast booth is noted player and commentator Gabe Kaplan. He will be joined by co-host Kara Scott, who will be making her first HSP appearance. Scott joins the HSP team after hosting the European Poker Tour in 2007 and 2008. Scott is only the second woman in history to cash in back-to-back years at the WSOP Main Event.
Filmed at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino in downtown Las Vegas, the show features a minimum $200,000 buy-in pure cash game. With players free to straddle, play the 7-2 game and run it twice – the show promises fireworks.
The premiere episode will air following an eight-hour “I LOVE POKER” marathon that will feature some of the best episodes from seasons one through five. The show will regularly air Sunday nights at 8:00 p.m. EST with encores airing at 11:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m.
