High Stakes Report: Hansen Seizes Control

Will the closing of the US market ensure a winning year for Hansen?

Will the closing of the US market ensure a winning year for Hansen?

The biggest online games might have suffered a crushing blow yesterday due to US players getting the boot, which might be a good thing for Gus Hansen. Hansen has been on a roller coaster ride since mid-March when he last made an appearance at the top of the Biggest Winners list with a $960,000 week. Since then he has made back to back appearances at the top of the Largest Losers list losing $1,346,194 in two weeks but he makes a return to the winning side of things this week.

Biggest Winners:

After suffering a $61,182 loss to Viktor “Isildur1″ Blom in PokerStars SuperStar Showdown, Scott “URnotINdang2″ Palmer managed to rebound nicely on Full Tilt Poker to lock up the second place spot this week. Another player who has suffered a loss against Blom in the SuperStar Showdown also finds himself on the winning side of things this week. Daniel “w00ki3z.” Cates rounds out the top five with a profit of $335,947 on PokerStars.

  1. Gus Hansen – $673,202
  2. Scott “URnotINdangr2″ Palmer – $438,947
  3. FakeSky – $351,996
  4. Seb86 – $335,910
  5. Daniel “w00ki3z.” Cates – $335,217

Largest Losers:

While Hansen was able to work his way off the Largest Losers list Tom “durrrr” Dwan was unable to do so making his third appearance in as many weeks losing $893,467 bringing his total losses for the year to $2,474,309. “POKERBLUFFS” became one of the latest casualties to Hansen this week to earn the second spot.

  1. Tom “durrrr” Dwan – $893,467
  2. POKERBLUFFS – $420,402
  3. Alex Luneau – $308,909
  4. Lance84 – $296,329
  5. world1969 – $282,834

SuperStar Showdown:

Viktor “Isildur1″ Blom and Scott “URnotINdangr” Palmer concluded their two week super-sized SuperStar Showdown last weekend with Blom winning round two by $66,607 giving Blom a $61,182 match win. Unlike the previous weeks it is unknown when or who will be Blom’s next opponent. A good guess is that it will be online qualifier Mastermixus who bested a 124-player field to earn a chance to take on Blom.
