Jerry Yang Debuts on ThePokerBiz.com’s Power 25
- BLUFF Staff | July 27, 2007
Only days after winning the 2007 World Series of Poker and being crowned as poker’s world Champion, Jerry Yang has earned another honor: Yang was named to ThePokerBiz.com’s Power 25 for July.
“Yang showed us in his interviews following his win that’s he’s humble and yet proud of his accomplishment,” said Lance Bradley, Editor of ThePokerBiz.com. “It’s a breath of fresh air for the industry to have an ambassador like Yang. Hopefully he carries the mantle better than his predecessor did.”
When ThePokerBiz.com released the July rankings for the Power 25 today Yang was listed at #25. The list is the comprehensive ranking of the poker industry’s most influential personalities and organizations and Yang’s win catapults him to the role ambassador. The list is compromised of members of various segments within the poker industry such as online operators, land-based operators, politicians, professional poker players, publishers and journalists.
The top spot continues to be held by the World Series of Poker with the World Poker Tour right behind in the second spot. Some of those that saw their ranking improve include ESPN, Full Tilt Poker, Jeffrey Pollack and Matt Savage.
“For the next while at least ESPN will have the attention of the viewing public and the improved production quality of the WSOP broadcasts this year show they’re continuing to work hard at making poker even more TV friendly than it already is,” said Bradley.
Every month staff at ThePokerBiz.com speaks with numerous industry insiders, professional poker players, as well as fellow poker journalists to properly assess the ranking of each member of the list.
The list of 25 is updated during the third week of each month and takes into account current events and the role each person or company plays in them. Industry insiders, including those who helped develop the original list, will be consulted for their input on the movement of each person or company.
