Kahnawake Gaming Commission Names Russ Hamilton As UB Cheater
- Jason Kirk | September 11, 2009
The Kahnawake Gaming Commission today issued an 11-page document confirming that cheating occurred at popular online poker room UltimateBet, naming the accounts used to fleece UB players out of their bankrolls, and stating that the individual who ultimately bears responsibility for that cheating is 1994 WSOP Main Event winner Russ Hamilton.
According to the KGC report, the cheating ran from June 2003 until December 2007, using 23 accounts and 117 different usernames used both for playing poker with illicit hole card information and transferring money. In clear language, the report says that the head of the ring running this scam was none other than Russ Hamilton:
As stated in the Commission’s September 29, 2008 public statement, the available
evidence shows that Russell Hamilton, an individual previously associated with the eWorid
Holdings Group, was primarily responsible for and benefitted from the multiple cheating
incidences. The vast majority of the computer devices and IP addresses used by the
cheating accounts were directly associated with Russell Hamilton. The vast majority of the
cheating accounts transferred money through Russell Hamilton’s player accounts. The individuals who transferred money, changed usemames or withdrew money from
accounts, all had ties to the eWorld Holdings Group and/or Russell Hamilton. The
beneficiaries of these transfers and withdrawals were either Russell Hamilton or
individuals who worked directly with Russell Hamilton or the eWorld Holdings Group.
As a result of the investigation, the KGC says it has “provided extensive information to law enforcement authorities, including the names of 31 individuals who were associated, to varying degrees, with Russell Hamilton, the cheating accounts and/or transactions related to the cheating accounts.”
A PDF file of the full text of the KGC report can be found here. More details as this story continues to develop.
