Nearly two weeks after the brazen robbery of the EPT Berlin, police have a suspect in custody that turned himself in. According to the Bild, a German newspaper, the 21 year-old suspect turned himself Monday night and is refusing to tell investigators the whereabouts of the other three suspects and the money.
The suspect is reportedly of Turkish origin and has confessed his involvement. He surrendered himself at a Berlin police station with a lawyer on Monday. Police spokesperson Stefan Plate said they assume the suspects are fleeing and an international search is underway.
The Berlin police have released the names and photos of the other three suspects they are searching for: Mustafa Ucarakus, Jihad Chetwie and Ahmad El Awayti. They are all between the ages of 19 and 20. They are slim and sporty with brown eyes and black hair. It is unclear whether the suspect in custody gave the names or not.
An officer also told Bild that, “We know exactly who we are looking for. We will catch these guys sooner or later.”
The person of interest police questioned and released last week has been cleared of all suspicion. Please check back with BLUFF as more details become available.
