Online Poker: Cheesemonster Wins FTOPS VII Main Event

The final event of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series VII featured a $535 buy-in and a field of 4,750 players. First place money was $410,780 and the field featured a who’s who of the online poker world. After 9.5 hours of play cheesemonster took home the title, the golden FTOPS avatar and the mid-six-figures payday. Here’s how the final table went down with each elimination:

Seat 1: SLmelonman - 2,256,336

Seat 2: awriver - 1,675,949

Seat 3: frostey - 1,573,901

Seat 4: R3dL0bster - 2,151,417

Seat 5: kiwid10 - 1,066,951

Seat 6: Dwarf - 7,024,795

Seat 8: MarMoss - 1,966,360

Eliminated in 9th place: Jason “strassa2″ Strasser
Blinds: 50K/100K (10K antes)

Strassa2 started the final table with the second highest chip count but he was still the first player to go. Action folded around to strassa2 in the hijack who moved all-in for 1,034,087. The only call came from cheesemonster on the button. Strassa2 showed 6h 7d but cheesemonster tabled Qc Qs. The flop ran out 9s 8h 8c giving strassa2 an open-ended straight draw and all appeared well when the Th hit the turn, but the Jc on the river gave cheesemonster a queen-high straight and strassa2 was eliminated in ninth place.

Blinds: 60K/120K (15K antes)

In middle position awriver raised to 300,000, Dwarf re-raised all-in to 2,411,183 from the small blind, and awriver called all in. Dwarf turned over Ad Kd and awriver showed Qs Qh. Ironically awriver managed to dodge an ace or king until the river when the Ah hit giving Dwarf top pair and sending awriver home in eighth place.

Blinds: 60K/120K (15K antes)

Kiwid10 moved all-in from the cut-off and Dwarf called from the button. Kiwid10 showed Ah 7d and Dwarf turned over Ac 9c. The flop ended all suspense when it brought the 9d. Unable to improve on the turn or river kiwid10 was eliminated in seventh place.

Blinds: 60K/120K (15K antes)

R3dL0bster raised to 277,275 from the button and MarMoss moved all-in for 2,111,360 from the big blind. R3dL0bster made the call and showed Kh Kd while MarMoss flipped over 9h 9d. The flop came 2s 4d 3s and R3dL0bster was still in front. The board paired with the 4s on the turn but the 9c sent R3dL0bster to rail with a bad beat and a sixth place showing.

Blinds: 60K/120K (15K antes)

From the button Dwarf raised to 495,000 and cheesemonster called from the big blind. The flop came Kc Kd Kh and cheesemonster checked, Dwarf moved all-in for 2,334,216 and cheesemonster insta-called and tabled Ks Ts for quad kings. Dwarf showed Ah 5s and was sent to the rail in fifth spot.

Blinds: 80K/160K(20K antes)

SLmelonman moved all-in for 2,476,612 from the small blind and frostey called all-in from the big blind. Frostey was ahead with Ad 3s to the Kc Td of SLmelonman. But the board delivered Ks Qs 2d Qd and when the river delivered the 5c and not an ace frostey was eliminated from the FTOPS VII Main Event if fourth place.

Blinds: 80K/160K (20K antes)

Cheesemonster raised from the button to 480,000 and SLmelonman moved all-in for 4,852,498; cheesemonster called. The race was on as cheesemonster tabled Tc Th and SLmelonman showed As Kh. But SLmelonman couldn’t improve on a board of 4s 7h Qs Jh 6s and he was out in third spot.

On the final hand of the night cheesemonster held the button and raised to 650,000, MarMoss re-raised all-in to 3,756,554, cheesemonster called. MarMoss showed Kd Tc and was dominated by cheesemonster’s Kc Qc. The flop came 4c Js Qs giving cheesemonster top pair but an open-ended straight draw for MarMoss. Unfortunately for MarMoss neither the turn or river brought one of his remaining eight outs and cheesemonster had won the FTOPS VII Main Event.
