Online Poker: Durrrr on the Upswing, Isildur1 Makes a Cameo
- Jessica Welman | February 15, 2010

Dwan had an $800,000 week last week
Perhaps the most interesting thing about the Durrrr Challenge this weekend was not the super short 79-hand session, but the man who made a brief cameo at the Challenge tables. On Saturday evening it appeared as though Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Patrik Antonius were going to put in an evening session at the $200/$400 Challenge tables as Dwan had even taken his seat and was ready to go.
Much to the surprise of the railbirds awaiting Antonius’ arrival, none other than Isiludr1, the Mystery Swede himself, plunked down in the empty seat and posted $100,000. It took no time at all before durrrr sat out though, dashing any hopes of another epic durrrr/Isildur1 showdown.
Instead, the rail was treated to a teeny tiny Challenge session that lasted less than 20 minutes. The duo played 79 hands, Dwan won $21,790.50 and the two called it a night. Most of Dwan’s winnings came courtesy of the largest pot of the night, worth $64,799.50. Durrr was sitting with $41,000 to Antonius’ $78,000 when he raised to $1,200 preflop and Antonius called. The flop came down J

and Antonius took the lead, betting out $2,400. Dwan called and called a second time when Antonius fired out $7,200 after the 2
hit on the turn. The river brought the 9
and Antonius fired a third bullet, betting out $21,600. Dwan moved all-in for $30,600 total and Antonius folded, conceding the nearly $65,000 hand.
The super-mini session brings Dwan’s overall profits to $1,414,551 and brought the total number of hands played to 32,874. Dwan’s $20,000 worth of profit pales in comparison with the big week he’s been having at the other high stakes online cash game tables though. He was the biggest winner of the past week, earning over $800,000 over the course of more than 24,000 hands.
A bulk of those profits came from playing the $200/$400 Cap PLO ring game against the likes of Gus Hansen, David “POKERBLUFFS” Eldar, Hac “trex313” Dang, Di “Urindanger” Dang and Alex “PostFlopAction” Kostritsyn, who has been on quite the high stakes tear himself. Even though the pots were capped, Dwan still managed to take nearly $725,000 off his opponents as he absolutely tore up the table over the course of more than 3,500 hands.
Another player making waves in 2010 is Cole South. He is far and away the biggest winner of the year so far, up over $2.8 million with almost 31,000 hands to his credit. Kostritsyn and Hansen are up a bit as well with $1.8 million in profits a piece. Meanwhile, Antonius has gone from first to worst and is still the biggest loser of the year at -$1.7 million, but Brian Townsend isn’t faring too well either—he’s down $1.6 million since the start of January.
