Online Poker: Is Isildur1 Done?
- Jessica Welman | November 22, 2009

Isildur1 and Ivey Face Off
Those who were wondering when Isildur1’s seemingly unstoppable rush came to an end might want to bookmark Saturday, November 21st. Granted, Isildur1 has booked losses before, most notably a more than $2 million losing session to Patrik Antonius, but he always found ways to bounce back, whether it be with sessions against Tom “durrrr” Dwan, Cole South or Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies. Just Friday night, Isildur1 was back at the tables with durrrr and he took his nemesis for $800,000. A few days prior, Isildur1 netted $1 million in profit off of Sahamies. The Friday session against durrrr left many believing Isildur1 cleared out Dwan’s FTP account and durrrr’s failure to make an appearance at the tables on Saturday only further affirmed those suspicions.
Well, when durrrr’s away Isildur1 will play and he took on the two players who seem to have a keen ability to get the best of him: Antonius and Phil Ivey. Isildur1 and his two foes opened up the $500/$1,000 PLO tables to pass the time while they all took part in the $25,000 Heads-Up PLO Tournament and all three continued playing across six different tables long after they busted out of the event. When Isildur1 finally called it a night, he had put in almost 4,500 hands over nine hours of play. He was also down $3.3 million.
Antonius claimed the larger portion of the profits, up $2.1 million thanks, in large part, to the $1.35 million pot we reported on earlier this evening. Ivey didn’t fare too badly himself, picking up $1.2 million in profits, most of which he won in the waning hours of the session. In total, there were five pots worth more than $800,000 and several others with more than half a million dollars on the line. Two of the five biggest pots of the night went Isildur1’s way, but even those did not do much to curb his losses on the day.
Shortly after dropping the record-setting pot to Antonius, Isildur1 took out some of his anger on Ivey. Isildur1 and Ivey were sitting on a table with $414,000 and $662,000 respectively when Ivey raised to $3,00, Isildur1 made it $9,000 and Ivey called. The flop fell 9

and Isildur1 led out for $15,000. Ivey called and the two saw the turn fall 8
. Isildur1 bet $42,000 into the $48,000 pot, Ivey raised to $157,000, Isildur1 moved all-in and Ivey called. Ivey showed T

for a ten high straight and a spade draw. Isildur1 was behind with his Q

, but he made a superior straight with the 7
on the river to rake the nearly $830,000 pot.
It didn’t take long at all for Ivey to get back to even and another massive pot helped to push his profits into the seven figure range. With just over $600,000 to Isildur1’s $415,000, Ivey took down a hand worth slightly more than the pot he dropped to Isildur1. The Swede raised to $3,000, Ivey made it $9,000 to go and Isildur1 put in another raise to $27,000 total, which Ivey called. The flop fell A

and Ivey checked. Isildur1 bet $42,000 and Ivey put in a check raise to $180,000. Isildur1 moved all-in and Ivey called, tabling Q

for top pair, a flush draw and a straight draw. Isildur1 revealed 6

for a set of sixes, which was ahead for the moment. The river K
made Ivey’s flush though and he scooped the $832,940.00 pot.
Ivey wasn’t the only one getting the best of Isildur1 in these big pots. Patrik Antonius picked up the $1.35 million hand, but also nabbed another $810,000 off Isildur1 when Antonius raised to $3,000 preflop, Isildur1 reraised to $9,000, Antonius made it $15,000 and Isildur1 put it one final preflop raise, making it $45,000. Antonius called and the duo saw a flop of 9

. Isildur1 checked, Antonius bet $68,000 and Isildur1 called. When the turn brought the 6
, Isildur1 led out for $226,000, leaving just $65,000 behind. Antonius raised enough to put Isildur1 all-in and Isildur1 called with A

for kings up. Antonius had a big straight draw with 7

and he got there with the 8
on the river to take down the $810,984.00 pot.
Isildur1 did get the best of Antonius in one large pot. Antonius raised to $3,000 preflop, Isildur1 made it $9,000 to go and Antonius called. Isildur1 bet out $14,000 on the 9

flop and Antonius called. Isildur1 check raised all-in after the 7

for two pair and a straight draw. The 3
on the river did not help Antonius and the $815,975 pot went to Isildur1.
It was Isildur1 who told Ivey he was done for the night, but does that mean he is done for a while? PLO and Antonius and/or Ivey does not seem to be a winning combination for Isildur1, but our resident mystery Swede does not seem to be one who likes to back down from a challenge. The real question is how his bankroll is handling this sudden plummet in profits, as his profits for the year are now in the six figures compared to the nearly six million in profits he had earlier this month.
