Online Poker: Isildur1 and ZeeJustin Tangle in $550K Match

Guess Who's Back. Back Again.

Guess Who's Back. Back Again.

Yesterday we mentioned that Isildur1 made a brief cameo during Durrrr Challenge play. Well, looks like our Mystery Swede has gone from bit player to leading man once again, thanks to an epic day of online play against the likes of Isaac “luvtheWNBA” Haxton and BLUFF contributor Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo. It was a massive day at the tables for Isildur1, who ended Monday up over $725,000. Most of his profits came courtesy of Bonomo, who dropped more than half a million dollars to the Swede, while Isildur1 actually lost a little money to Bonomo’s friend and Panorama-mate Haxton. Here is how Isildur1’s big day went:

Isildur1 began his day at the 6-handed $200/$400 CAP PLO tables, where he started on a profitable note, booking more than $200,000 in winnings. He followed that up with a rematch against Haxton, as the two opened up six tables of $100/$200 No Limit Hold’em. At first, Isildur1 had the upper hand in the match, picking up more than $90,000 of the Las Vegas-based online pro. In typical Mystery Swede fashion, Isildur1 tried to press his luck and get his opponent to move up stakes. More than once, Isildur1 asked Haxton to bump it up to $200/$400, but Haxton refused in humorous fashion:

Isildur1: u play so nitto to
luvtheWNBA: i’m sorry to hear that
luvtheWNBA: yes, i’m a big nit
Isildur1: nw
Isildur1: hehe nah i dont know
luvtheWNBA: it’s because i’m so fat
Isildur1: but 200400 would be funnier
luvtheWNBA: no agility

Isildur1’s good-hearted ribbing did result in the two opening two more tables, and it was around this time that the momentum started to shift in Haxton’s direction. Sitting with $21,500 to Isildur1’s $62,500, Haxton raised to $600 preflop and Isildur1 bumped it up to $2,100 total. Haxton called an the duo saw the flop fall AA4. Isildur1 check-called Haxton’s bet of $2,600 on the flop and check-called $3,600 more when the J hit on the turn. The river brought the 7 and Isildur1 checked a third time. Haxton moved all-in for $13,300 and Isildur1 called and mucked after his opponent showed 77 for rivered full house to rake the more than $40,000 pot.

Shortly thereafter, the duo called it a match with Haxton taking around $90,000 off the Swede. Waiting in the wings to step up and take on Isildur1 was Bonomo. The two settled in at six of the $200/$400 NLHE tables. Isildur1 got off to a lightning fast start, doubling up with pocket queens to Bonomo’s pocket sevens and picking up another $80,000 pot when his J8 managed to fill up against Bonomo’s 99 on a T868J board.

J-8 would prove to be a winning hand for Isildur1 once again just a short while later. Sitting with $56,800 to Bonomo’s $64,500, Isiludr1 raised to $1,200 preflop and Bonomo called. Bonomo checked the AT9 flop and Isildur1 fired out $2,000. Bonomo then check-raised to $6,400 total and Isildur1 called. The rest of the money went in after the Q came on the turn. Isildur1 revealed J8 for a straight, which had Bonomo’s A9 for aces up drawing pretty slim. Bonomo failed to fill up on the river and Isildur1 dragged the $113,395 pot.

The hits just kept coming for Bonomo after that. The duo got $106,595 in on a flop of J86 with Bonomo holding 66 to Isildur1’s 68. The set of sixes held up with the 7 on the turn, but the river brought a brutal 8 to give Isildur1 the bigger boat and the pot.

That was not the only big cooler of the evening either. The biggest pot of the session came when Bonomo raised to $1,200 preflop with just over $80,000 behind and Isildur1 reraised to $4,800, having Bonomo’s stack covered. The flop fell KQ6 and Isildur1 conitnued to be the aggressor, betting $6,400. Bonomo raised to $15,600 total and Isildur1 called. The turn brough the 8 and Isildur1 checked. Bonomo bet out $20,000, Isildur1 put his opponent all-in for his remaining $45,000 and Bonomo called with Q6 for two pair. Isildur1 showed KK for top set and raked the $170,781 pot in a massive cooler of a hand.

Many on the rail began to sense that Bonomo was getting a little frustrated. He tried to make a move on the Mystery Swede, five-betting all-in preflop in a $117,996 pot holding K2. Unfortunately for Bonomo, Isildur1 woke up with a hand, called the all-in with TT and raked another six-figure pot.  For a moment, it appeared as though Bonomo would rally, but the $170,000 pot we mentioned before, plus this big hand worth $137,592.50 put the kibosh on his comeback:

Bonomo had $118,500 to Isildur1’s $68,800 when he called Isildur1’s preflop raise of $1,200. The flop fell 642 and Bonomo checked. Isiludr1 bet out $2,000 and Bonomo check-raised to $6,400 total. Isildur1 fired back with a raise of his own to $13,600 and Bonomo called. The 5 on the turn prompted another check from Bonomo. Isildur1 bet out $21,400 and Bonomo check-raised a second time, moving all-in for Isildur1’s remaining $32,600. Isildur1 called, showing 35 for a flopped straight, while Bonomo held A6 for top pair and the nut flush draw. The river bricked out with the K and the pot went to Isildur1.

The lengthy session came to a close when Bonomo, who had his entire FTP roll spread across the tables, had to pull the plug after one of his backers decided to call it a night:

ZeeJustin: friend that had a peice backed out, i have to go down to 1/2 if you want to keep playing =(

All told, Bonomo dropped nearly $570,000 to Isildur1 and was down just shy of $500,000 total on the day.  It was obviously a rough session for Bonomo, but if his Twitter feed (@JustinBonomo) is any indication, he took the loss with as level a head as possible:

Played Isildur1 yesterday. Was my biggest poker loss ever. I’m still up money overall for February. I will play him again.

We’ll be sure to keep our eyes on the cash games to see if a Bonomo/Isildur1 rematch is on the horizon or not. It will also be interesting to see how our favorite Mystery Swede chooses to utilize his new found wealth at the tables. Will it be an epic rematch with durrrr? Or will he continue to rebuild his bankroll before stepping back up to the $500/$1,000 stakes for some more memorable matches?
