Online Poker: The Isildur1 and Durrrr Carnage Continues
- Jessica Welman | November 12, 2009

The high stakes railbirds must be wondering if “Isildur1” really does have, “one ring to rule them all,” as he continues to work some magic in his high stakes No Limit Hold’em sessions against Tom “durrrr” Dwan. Isildur1 (whose name comes from the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy) handed Dwan big losses on Tuesday and Wednesday evening, giving the unidentified Swede a perfect 4 for 4 in sessions against the online pro.
Dwan dropped nearly half a million dollars to Isildur1 on Tuesday and gave up another $700,000 last night, bringing the total amount of durrrr’s losses to Isiludr1 to around $2.9 million on the week. Thankfully for durrrr, winning session against Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies and others have buoyed his losses to Isildur1 and, as a result, Dwan is down $2.6 million overall since Friday.
On Tuesday it appeared as though durrrr was going to recoup some of his losses plus some, as he had Isildur1 stuck as much as $1.7 million. The duo took a break midway through the action after Isildur1 rallied back to be down just $150,000 and a little break seemed to serve Isildur1 well, as he returned to erase his losses completely and book a win on the day against his formidable foe.
How exactly is durrrr dropping so much to this unidentified newcomer to the high stakes scene? Well, almost $700,000 of it can be explained by one of the biggest online poker pots in history. For those expecting some ridiculous bluff with 5 high, you’ll be disappointed to hear it was just a really, really expensive cooler. A series of raises led to all of the money going in preflop with durrrr holding A

Another $600,000+ pot on Tuesday involved more inauspicious starting hands. Durrrr raised to $3,000 preflop, Isildur1 made it $12,000 total and durrrr called. Isildur1 bet out $15,000 on the K

Wednesday’s session brought more of the same for Dwan. In one of the biggest pots of the session, durrrr raised preflop, Isildur1 reraised and durrrr called. Both players check the 7

flop and Isildur1 checked again when the J
came on the turn. Dwan fired $17,400, Isildur1 reraised to almost $65,000 and Dwan moved all-in for $176,000 total with A

and Isildur1 called, showing 7

Dwan is in Vegas filming “High Stakes Poker” for the next day or two, but he told Isildur1 he would see him on the felt again soon. Whether durrrr is motivated or just masochistic remains to be seen, but it seems as though the heads-up bouts between these two will continue until one is completely busto.
