Online Poker: YrrsiNN and hassan77 Net Big Wins
- Jessica Welman | December 21, 2009
The holiday season is kicking into gear and as such, it is only fitting that poker players got into the giving spirit. Two three-way chops in the PokerStars Sunday Million and Full Tilt Poker $1 Million Guarantee ensured that the wealth was spread around with six different players walking away with six figure scores to their credit. Throw in the results of the Sunday Brawl and Warm-Up and there were nine different people who had $100,000+ days yesterday not to mention several chops in most every major tournament.
The special upped guarantee on Full Tilts marquee tournament was taken down byMichael “YrrsiNN” Huber, but his $127,410.20 payday was the smallest of the top three. Third place finisher “Mpiyav” had the biggest stack when the deal was brokered, so he took home the biggest piece of the prize pool at $162,494.29. Meanwhile, in the Million Michael “dapalma150” Palma got the biggest payout despite finishing as runner-up to hassan77. The Million final table was once again a stacked one, with Chris “Moorman1” Moorman, Jason “munson1049” Deutsch and Rodney “BigFlopper01” Burt all making appearances as well.
James “jdawg217” Navolanic was the biggest benefactor of a 4-way chop in the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up, earning $116,916.77 and the title of winner after defeating “danny04” heads-up for the honor. Notable pros Jeremy “EndlessJ” Menard and Eric “EricB09” Blair were content to chop the Sunday Second Chance and Sunday 500 respectively with each ending up in second place. Neither missed out on extra cash though, since their two deals divvied up the money and left only TLB points for the events’ winners.
The UB Poker $200K GTD was one of the few invites that played out to a winner with “JOHNYCASHGAME” besting the field of more than 1,000 players. Connor “BLANCONEGRO” Drinan was at the final table as well, following up his runner-up run last week with an impressive 6th place showing.
Here are the results from several of the Sunday Majors, including a brief recap of the Sunday Million:
PokerStars Sunday Million
Prize Pool: $1,708,000
Entrants: 8,540

Seat 1: Michael “dapalma150” Palma (9,731,234)
Seat 2: moorzer (10,358,040)
Seat 3: Jason “munson1049” Deutsch (13,851,280)
Seat 4: YaaGy (3,639,487)
Seat 5: traneren (8,882,367)
Seat 6: Rodney “BigFlopper01” Burt (5,401,002)
Seat 7: Chris “Moorman1” Moorman (17,113,695)
Seat 8: hassan77 (12,651,199)
Seat 9: indio1 (3,771,696)
Coming into the final table, the tournament looked like it was veteran Chris “Moorman1” Moorman’s to lose, as he had the advantage of his reputation and the chip lead in his favor. As can be the case in these Sunday Million final tables though, people’s fortunes turn on a dime and Moorman would be one of the players making an early exit from the final nine.
Blinds began at 200,000/400,000 ante 40,000 and several players were looking to double up. Indio1 got his chance when he picked up pocket jacks in the small blind and Moorman1 tried to steal the blinds with 7
T
. The overpair held and Moorman1 was down to 14 million. YaaGy was the next to double up after picking off Jason “munson1049” Deutsch’s small blind steal while holding K
7
in the big blind. The double ups continued when Rodney “BigFlopper01” Burt’s A
K
outflopped 7

board. Moorzer was next, picking up pocket aces to indio1’s K
J
.
Just when it appeared like the short stacks were never going to bust, YaaGy made his exit in 9th place when his A
Q
couldn’t catch up with Michael “dapalma150” Palma’s T
T
. Moorman1 would follow in 8th place when action folded to him in the small blind and he shoved in his last 8 million at the 300,000/600,000 ante 60,000 level with Q
J
. Hassan77 was in the big blind with A
7
and called, eliminating Moorman1 in 8th and taking the chip lead with almost 20 million chips.
The preflop action continued when indio1 put his last 3 million in with pocket sevens against traneren’s A
J
. The flop looked good for the sevens, but running jacks gave the pot to traneren and trimmed the field to six. Despite picking up indio1’s small stack, traneren was still the shorty at the table and he was the next to fall when a cooler of a hand saw his K
K
collide with dapalma150’s A
A
.
With five players remaining dapalma150 and hassan77 had nearly three times as many chips as the three other players and they were able to bully there opponents a little. Moorzer picked up a few chips when he doubled through hassan77 in another instance of kings into aces, but munson1049 would be less fortunate the very next hand. Munson1049 piced up K
Q
in the small blind and decided to go with it, raising all-in over the top of dapalma150’s raise. Unfortunately for munson1049, dapalma150 had picked up aces once again. The rockets held as the board ran out 4

and munson1049 was out in 5th place.
The flurry of monstrous pocket pairs continued the net hand when moorzer picked up K
K
against BigFlopper01’s K
J
. The big pair held up yet again and suddenly the table was down to three players. At that point, the top trio paused to reach a deal that gave nearly equal portions to hassan77 and moorzer while dapalma150, who had twice as many chips as the other two, was guaranteed over $200,000. $30,000 was set aside for the eventual winner and play resumed.
Hassan77 quickly erased dapalma150’s chip lead when his A
Q
held up against dapalma150s A
4
after the money went in preflop. Dapalma150 would retaliate by eliminating moorzer and taking back the chip lead. Dapalma150 raised on the button and moorzer called from the small blind. The flop fell Q
T
9
and moorzer checked. Dapalma150 fired out a bet and moorzer called. The turne brought the 3
and moorzer moved all-in for well over the size of the pot. Dapalma150 called, showing Q
J
for top pair and a straight draw. Moorzer had J
T
for middle pair and the same draw. The 3
on the river brought moorzer no help and he was out in 3rd place.
Heads-up play would be over in the span of four hands. The two quickly got it all-in with hassan77 holding A

to dapalma150’s A

. The T

board connected with hassan77 and only got better as the turn brought the K

. Hassan77 doubled up and dapalma150 was left with just 12 million chips. He managed to double up twice, but the third time was not the charm as his Q

collided with hassan77’s K
T
. The board ran out K

and the pair of kings was enough to eliminate dapalma150 and give hassan77 the title of Sunday Million winner.
