Sorel Mizzi may have what feels like a stranglehold on the BLUFF Player of the Year race, but the Online Player of the Year race still appears to be an absolutely wide-open affair as we have yet another player assuming the number one spot this week. Mickey “mement_mori” Petersen’s ot year really started kicking after an impressive run during this year’s Spring Championship of Online Poker, but his momentum has continued all the way through the summer. He’s earned over $1.3 million during 2010 so far, thanks to wins in events like the $50K Turbo Guarantee on Full Tilt Poker, the $100 rebuy on PokerStars, and over $350,000 in earnings in the past two months alone.

All that hard work has resulted in mement_mori claiming the top spot with a more than 25,000 point cushion separating him from Bill “CrazyHorse76” Slaght, who was in the top spot himself not one month ago. Meanwhile, inhidonks, who finished near the top of last year’s contest, leapt into the top three this past week. If you follow the OPOY closely, you might remember that inhidonks peaked at number one in the race around this time last year. Perhaps this year, the late surge is coming at just the right time for inhidonks to end the year on top?

Both Eric “Ericb09” Blair and Corey “Comandr_Cool” Burbick fell off the rankings quite a bit after spending their time and energy playing live at the WSOP, while Chris “Getting Daize” Oliver and JeanGrae surged back up the rankings as of late. With five weeks of online poker series less than one week away though, no one can get too comfortable with their situation, as the FTOPS, UBOC, and WCOOP will inevitably change up everything over the course of the next month.
