PCA: High Roller Final Table Set; Reinkemeier Leads

The Main Event of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure may be over and done, but the poker action is far from over on Paradise Island. A number of players stuck around Atlantis after Harrison Gimbel’s big victory on Monday and have been taking part in the remaining side events, including the prestigious $25,000 buy-in High Roller tournament.

Last year’s field drew 48 entrants while this year’s event easily broke that record with a total of 84 players.  The 2009 High Rollers champion Bertrand “ElKy” Grospellier took part, as did Roland de Wolfe, Lex “RasZi” Veldhuis and Vivek Rajkumar.  After leading the field for much of the first two days of play, Team PokerStars Pro Dario Mineiri was the event’s bubble boy, busting out in 17th place. Some of the players who did survive to make the money were Shawn Buchanan (15th), Isaac Baron (14th), Greg Raymer (13th), EPT Barcelona winner Carter Phillips (12th) and reigning WSO Main Event Champion Joe Cada, who fell short of the final table in 11th place.

After a long day of play which started with 24 players, the final eight who will be at the televised final table were set.  The table may be short on American names, but there is plenty of experience to go around.

For a moment it seemed as though the two women who entered the event, Team PokerStars Germany’s Sandra Naujoks and WSOP Ladies Event winner Lisa Hamilton would both make it to the final eight, but after an exceotionally long final table bubble, Naujoks came up just short in 9th place.

Joining Hamilton at the final table is EPT San Remo final tablist William Reynolds, online poker player Matt “ADZ124″ Marafiotiand European players Tobias Reinkemeier, Adolfo Vieza and Michel Brummelhuis.  They will return at 12pm tomorrow to battle it out for the top prize of $576,240.

Here are the chip counts heading into the final table:

1st: Tobias Reinkemeier – 1,072,000
2nd: Adolfo Vaeza – 758,000
3rd: Will Molson – 669,000
4th: William Reynolds – 482,000
5th: Lisa Hamilton – 440,000
6th: Michiel Brummelhuis – 394,000
7th: Matt Marafioti – 236,000
8th: Dmitry Stelmak – 150,000
