Moneymaker was one of a number of Team Pros who survived to Day 2

Just when you thought the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) couldn’t get any bigger, this year’s Main Event field just managed to surpass last year’s record setting turnout of 1,529 players. But, once again, the PCA has outdone itself and this year’s group consists of 1,560 runners. Outside of the WSOP, this has become one of the largest and most prestigious events on the poker circuit and this year the prize pool is bigger than ever with $15,132,000 up for grabs.

The big prize pool means a big first place prize in the form of $2.3 million. The top four finishers in this event will all bank seven-figure paydays, while everyone who makes the eight-handed final table will earn at least $200,000.

There were 913 hopefuls who took their seats on Day 1B of the Main Event on Sunday with dreams of picking up one of those million-dollar paydays, but only 373 are still in the running and will return for Day 2 on Monday. Leading the pack is Walid Bou-Habib (239,000) and Timothy “highland_fox” Finne, who bagged and tagged 225,100 chips. Carol Ventura was the top performing female of both Day 1, who ended with 225,000. While Day 1A chip leader, Team PokerStars Pro Pieter de Korver, is still the man to beat, there are plenty of people hot on his heels and over the 200,000 mark, including Tommy Vedes (220,200) and Team PokerStars Pro Chris Moneymaker (217,600). Other notable survivors with big stacks include Dwyte Pilgrim, Daniel Alaei, Casey Jarzabek, and Viktor “Isildur1” Blom, who had a great day and ended with 141,900.

There were plenty of people who were less fortunate, including the likes of Evelyn Ng, Joseph Cheong, Lex Veldhuis, Ryan D’Angelo, Team PokerStars Pros Vanessa Rousso and Jonathan Duhamel, and BLUFF Player of the Year Sorel Mizzi.
Monday will mark the return of 645 players to the Atlantis Convention Center for Day 2 action. Play is set to get underway at 12PM.
