Poker After Dark Features Heads-up Action This Week

The creators of NBC’s Poker After Dark continue to find ways to keep the show interesting. Whether it’s putting former world champions against each other, pitting couples against each other or turning the show into a high stakes cash game, the format has constantly been evolving.

This week they’re giving poker fans a special treat as the previous four NBC National Heads-up Poker Championship winners will go head-to-head in a unique heads-up format. Paul Wasicka, Phil Hellmuth, Ted Forrest and Chris Ferguson will play heads-up in randomly drawn match-ups in a $50,000 winner-take-all tournament.

In the first match 2007 NHUPC champion Wasicka takes on 2008 winner Ferguson and in the second match 2006 champion Forrest will be pitted against the first champion, Hellmuth. The winner of each match will then face off in a heads-up finale.

The match will begin airing on NBC late night Monday at 2:05 a.m., July 28, and will continue for five consecutive nights in the same time slot.  A special program called the “Director’s Cut” will air late night Saturday, August 2, at 1:00 a.m., right after Saturday Night Live.
