Poker Legend Chip Reese Dies at the Age of 56

The poker world was saddened this morning, when it was reported by Daniel Negreanu that Chip Reese had passed away in his sleep early this morning. Reese, who was 56 years old is most well know as one of the top cash game players in the world. He could regularly be found in the biggest games at the Bellagio battling with the likes of Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey, and Jennifer Harmon among others. Reese won three World Series of Poker bracelets, including his recent win in the 2006 inaugural $50,000 buy-in HORSE bracelet. He will be sorely missed by the poker community. Details on his death are still emerging. We will be sure to bring you any updates, as they come to us.

The Brunsons released a statement about Chip Reese’s passing:

“I have lost one of my oldest and dearest friends today. He was one of the most unique individuals I have ever known and Poker has lost one of the greats today.”

The Brunson family requests that they be allowed to grieve the passing of their dear friend. Funeral arrangement and donation information will be released along with an official statement in the next couple of days.
