Get to WSOP Europe with Bodog on Sunday
London’s calling and Bodog has answered. Sunday at 3:15 pm ET Bodog Poker is hosting the Euro Event Semifinal and two seats to WSOP Europe are guaranteed. Borgata Poker Open Underway
The Borgata Poker Open, one of the biggest tournaments on the East Coast, is underway at the Borgata Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City. The first event, a $300 + $50 No Limit Hold’em tournament, drew 1,192 entries. Daniel Apicella, of Hightstown, NJ took home the $77,170 first place prize Friday. In Event #2 ($500 + $60 No Limit Hold’em) Michael Dolan of Old Bethpage, NY came out on top of the 706-player field to earn the $89,980 first place prize. 2002 World Series of Poker champion Robert Varkonkyi finished fourth for $23,828.
Action continues until the $9,600 + $400 World Poker Tour championship event on September 14.
Commerce Casino Giving Away New Cars During Football Season
The Commerce Casino is known for huge bad beat jackpots. But their latest promotion might just take the cake. Every Monday during football season players will have the chance to enter a draw to win a new Honda Accord. To earn an entry to the weekly draw players need to be seated at a bad beat jackpot table when the bad beat jackpot is won.
“When football season comes around each year we do something special for our players,” said John Griffo, Commerce Casino’s Development Manager. “This year the casino has decided to give cars away.
Jamie Gold to Speak to Casino Affiliates in Barcelona
2006 World Series of Poker champion Jamie Gold will be the keynote at CAP Euro, a gaming industry conference in Barcelona. Last year Doyle Brunson held the same honor.
“It’s indeed an honour to follow the legend, Doyle Brunson, in being the keynote speaker at this year’s CAP Euro convention,” said Gold. Along with giving the keynote address, Gold will also be holding coaching sessions for players in the Affiliate Series of Poker as well as holding an autograph session.
‘There’s no doubt that the explosion of poker around the world is directly connected to the emergence and phenomenal success of online poker. As well as making the game far more accessible, it has taken poker to entirely new levels, fuelled worldwide exposure through mainstream television sponsorship and, along the way, provided tutorage of gameplay and strategy.
PokerStars Signs Hockey Superstar Mats Sundin
The biggest poker room in the world continues to find ways to expand their audience. This past week the online poker giant announced that Mats Sundin, National Hockey League superstar, has signed on to be an ambassador for the site.
“I have always enjoyed playing poker, and partnering with PokerStars gives me the opportunity to challenge myself and explore the full potential of my game. Learning from and playing against some of the best poker players in the world won’t be easy, but I believe the fighting spirit I’ve developed as a hockey pro will really help me at the tables.”
Sundin will play online under the name “MatsSundin” and will make appearances at live events in North America and Europe as his hockey schedule allows.
