Poker Royalty Signs Doyle Brunson
- Jason Kirk | June 5, 2009
There’s no bigger name in poker than that of legendary two-time WSOP Main Event champion Doyle Brunson. Now the legend will be represented by Brian Balsbaugh and his agency, Poker Royalty.
“I’m a terrible businessman and deal maker so I’m glad to be able to turn over all that stuff to Brian,” said Brunson in the release announcing the new deal. “I respect what Poker Royalty’s accomplished and look forward to a bright future with them.”
Balsbaugh, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Poker Royalty, gave a nod to Texas Dolly’s status as one of tournament poker’s trailblazers. “The opportunity to represent Doyle Brunson is a career highlight for me,” he said. “If it weren’t for Doyle and his hard work the poker industry would not have evolved to the point where there could even be a Poker Royalty. I have no doubt we will do some big things together.”
Brunson, who conquered the world’s most prestigious poker tournament in 1976 and 1977 and changed the game when he published the seminal poker text Super System in 1979, is the latest addition to a stable of world class pros represented by Poker Royalty. Others currently calling Poker Royalty home include fellow Main Event winners Phil Hellmuth and Scotty Nguyen, as well as 2008 WSOP Player of the Year Erick Lindgren and four-time WSOP bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu.
