PokerRoyalty Crosses Atlantic and Opens European Office
- Lance Bradley | October 14, 2008
PokerRoyalty, the player agency group which represents a number of the biggest names in poker, has announced the official opening of their European office in London, England. The new office will help the agency focus on business in both Europe and Asia.
In the last few years, we have seen tremendous growth of poker events and projects in Europe, Asia and South America,” said PokerRoyalty founder Brian Balsbaugh. “While we believe Las Vegas will always be the center of the poker world, there is no denying that poker is a global game and the world’s best players now have international opportunities available to them.”
Balsbaugh also announced that the agency has hired Jim Erwood, a former soccer agent, to man the London digs. Erwood will assume the position of Director of European Operations and will be responsible for securing new business opportunities for existing clients in Europe through main-stream media, sponsorship, licensing, commercial endorsements and appearances.
“Having boots on the ground in Europe positions us to be able to capitalize on those opportunities and better serve our clients,” said Balsbaugh, whose agency manages endorsement and marketing opportunities for the likes of Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Erick Lindgren, Patrik Antonius and Michael Mizrachi.
“I’m thrilled at the opportunity,” said Erwood, who previously worked for Galaxy Sports Management in Europe. “Poker Royalty is committed to being a global company, and I hope to replicate in Europe what it has built in the United States.”
