POY: Rinat Bogdanov Breaks Into Top Twenty

After a few weeks where we saw a whole crop of new faces each week in the 2012 BLUFF Player of the Year ranks, things appear to be slowing down. This week saw only one change to the top twenty, the entrance of Rinat Bogdanov in 18th place.

Bogdanov is one of the newest World Poker Tour champs, taking down the WPT Venice Grand Prix earlier this month.  Bogdanov earned €229,800 for the win as well as enough POY points to enter the ranks in 18th place and push WSOPC Choctaw Main Event winner Abraham Araya out of the top twenty altogether.

The other newest WPT Champ, Matt Juttelstad wasn’t as fortunate.  Even though the Lukcy Hearts Poker Open winner defeated a field nearly twice the size of the 155-player Venice event, the difference in buy-ins ($3,500 for Lucky Hearts compared to approximately $6,500 for Venice) resulted in a bigger point total for Bogdanov.  Juttelstad is not too far outside the top twenty though. He is currently sitting in 26th place in the ranks.

The top  of the ranks remain unchanged with Jonathan Duhamel retaining the top spot with Aussie Millions winner Oliver Speidel right behind him.  There will likely be some shake-ups the rest of the month though, as results from the LAPT Grand Final in Sao Paolo, EPT Copenhagen, and the always massive LA Poker Classic Main Event will be offering some big points to the big winners.

Until then, here are the current top twenty in the 2012 BLUFF Player of the Year race:

2. (-) Oliver Speidel – 529.45
