Steve “MrSmokey1″ Billirakis Takes Down WSOP Circuit Chicago

Two summers ago Steve “MrSmokey1″ Billirakis went from 20-year-old online poker phenom to youngest winner of a World Series of Poker bracelet in a span of 11 days. On Sunday he added to his resume with a win at the WSOP-Circuit event in Hammond, Indiana just outside of Chicago.

Billirakis came out on top of a final table that included Dustin “Neverwin” Woolf, Jason DeWitt and eventual runner-up Thomas Koral to take home the $208,885 first place prize, championship ring and a seat in the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event.

Koral walked away with $126,120. Woolf recorded a ninth place finish for $21,677,

The three-day, $5,000 + $150 buy-in event attracted a field of 165 to push the total prize pool to $788,250. Included amongst the field were Young Phan, Dean Hamrick, Brett Richey and Kevin “BeLOWaBOVe” Saul.

The next WSOP Circuit event runs November 6 - 16 at Harveys Lake Tahoe.
