Three-Tiered Bodog Poker Open III Begins This Weekend
- Jason Kirk | April 23, 2009
This weekend, online poker players will have another tiered tournament series to play in: the Bodog Poker Open III. Beginning on Sunday, April 26, the BPO III will feature 26 events across three levels of buy-ins, with $280,000 in guaranteed prize pools and $75,000 of added money kicked in from the poker room’s own stash.
The highest tier, the BPO III Championship Tournament Series, will feature 10 events with buy-ins ranging from $50+$5 (with rebuys) to $470+$30. The first nine events will have an extra $5,000 added to the prize pool by Bodog, while the Championship Series Main Event will see the prize pool swell by $30,000. Meanwhile the eight events comprising the BPO III Mid-Stakes Tournament Series will have a total of $140,000 in guaranteed prize money. Buy-ins range from $20+2 (with rebuys) all the way up to the $150+13 price tag on the Mid-Main Event, where the guarantee is $30,000.
The BPO III Mini-Bounty Tournament Series, with buy-ins from $10+1 to $46+4, is aimed at players with smaller bankrolls who still want to play in a major-league-style tournament. In addition to over $65,000 in guaranteed prize pools over its eight events, the Mini-Bounty series will also feature a prize for the players who knock out Bodog Poker Pros Evelyn Ng, Jean-Robert Bellande, David Williams and Justin Bonomo. Taking out any of the pros, or past winners of Bodog promotions, is good for winning a seat into the Mini-Main Event. In all, 42 players will have a price on their heads in the Mini Bounty Tournament Series.
All three tiers will close out the BPO III with their Main Events on Sunday, May 3. Qualifiers for all buy-in levels are running around the clock at Bodog, giving even players who might normally opt to play the Mini series a shot at winning entry to the Championship level.
