UltimateBet Jumps Into Octagon With UFC Fighter Sponsorship

Only ten days ago WickedChopsPoker broke the news that the UFC had banned online poker room Full Tilt Poker from appearing on fighters pants, shirts or any signage inside the octagon. The speculation at the time was that another online poker room, UltimateBet, had jumped in with a better offer that UFC president Dana White couldn’t say no to.

Now, after Wednesday nights UFC Fight Night, it appears those aren’t just rumors anymore. Martin ‘The Hitman’ Kampmann made his way to the ring for his main event fight with Carlos Condit with the UltimateBet logo on the front and back of the shirt he wore to the ring as well as on the back of the trunks he wore during the fight itself.

“We’re mega excited to have our logo associated with Kampmann, a master of his craft and one of UFC’s world class fighters,” said an UltimateBet spokesperson. “Our collaboration with ‘The Hitman’ continues our inroads into some of the highest rating pay-per-view sports shows on air, and we’re pulling no punches when it comes to any opportunity to get involved with UFC.”

During the card, which aired lived on SpikeTV, an UltimateBet commercial also aired. The online poker company made no bones about their future plans with UFC either. In a release issued by UltimateBet late Thursday they admitted to being ready to step-up their presence at future events.

“With UFC fighter Kampmann in its corner, UltimateBet, the home of 11-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth, continues to team with champion competitors. Watch for the leading online poker site to create more headlines and industry buzz when they ramp up their presence at the upcoming UFC 97 event in Montreal on April 18,” the release read.

Full Tilt Poker enjoyed a seemingly healthy marketing parntership with the UFC as recent as January of this year. At the UFC 93 card in Dublin, Ireland nearly every fighter wore the familiar red, black and white Full Tilt logo in some way and the center of the mat also featured the logo. Ring announcer Bruce Buffer as well as fighters Matt Hughes and Mike Swick are currently listed as “Friends of Full Tilt” on the Full Tilt Poker website.
