Vanessa Rousso Newest Go Daddy Girl
- Lance Bradley | March 5, 2009
Vanessa Rousso, who created some buzz in the poker industry earlier this year with an appearance in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, is joining IndyCar superstar Danica Patrick as a spokesmodel for domain name registrar GoDaddy.com.
Rousso is currently filming commercials for GoDaddy with Patrick and the original GoDaddy girl and current WWE wrestler Candice Michelle in Las Vegas. The commercials are expected to air during the upcoming NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship, the 2009 National Football League season and possibly the Super Bowl.
“Vanessa is smart, she’s aggressive and she’s hot,” said Go Daddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons. “She has an economics degree from Duke. She’s working on a law degree at the University of Miami. And, like Go Daddy Girl Danica Patrick, she’s competing successfully in what has been a man’s sport. She is definitely Go Daddy material.”
Rousso’s career live earnings total $875,746 with her biggest cash coming from the 2006 World Poker Tour World Championship where she finished 7th for $263,625. That same year she won $285,450 by winning a $5,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em tournament at the Borgata Open.
Her success at the tables earned her a sponsorship from online poker giant PokerStars.com where she plays under the name “LadyMaverick”. The appearance in the SI Swimsuit Issue was via an advertisement for the online poker room’s play-for-free equivalent PokerStars.net.
“Poker is my passion, but that actually started with my interest in economics,” said Rousso. “I know a strong company when I see one and Go Daddy is absolutely dominant. Go Daddy is world leader in so many Internet categories, plus it has a reputation for being fun, edgy and aggressive. It’s just my style.”
The decision by GoDaddy to add Rousso to their stable of isn’t their first venture into the world of poker. Last month the organizers of the NHUPC announced that the domain registrar would be the presenting sponsor for the 2009 event at Caesars Palace.

I hope Vanessa doesn’t talk during the commercials otherwise GoDaddy will lose their audience as viewers en mass switch channels to avoid her inane and annoying chatter.
Vanessa, great to see you get some nice backing from a company outside of the normal poker industry. Hopefully more and more companies will see the value of backing players.
