World Poker Tour Signs Deal with Fox Sports Net For Season VII
- Lance Bradley | July 17, 2008
After months of speculation about their broadcast future, the World Poker Tour announced Thursday a broadcast partnership with Fox Sports Net for Season VII.
A total of 26 episodes will air on FSN with the first two episodes coming from the Bellagio Cup IV being filmed Thursday. The timeslot and schedule for the season have yet to be announced.
“The World Poker Tour has a track record as the ultimate brand name in televised poker,” said George Greenberg, FSN Executive Vice President of Programming and Production. “FSN is very happy to televise such quality content and we look forward to future programming opportunities with the WPT.”
This will be the third broadcast partner for the WPT following a single season on GSN and five seasons on the Travel Channel. FSN programming is available in 80 million homes in the United States via the 16 regional sports networks.
“FSN and News Corporation are two incredible powerhouses in the television industry that have played key roles in the growth and popularity of televised poker,” said Steve Lipscomb, WPT Founder, President and CEO.”It couldn’t be a better fit for WPT and our fans. We’re thrilled.”
