World Poker Tour World Championship Down to 18; Amir Vahedi Leads

Gus Hansen started Day 4 as the chip leader at the 2008 World Poker Tour World Championship and held that position until late in the day when Amir Vahedi began accumulating chips. As the day ended Vahedi’s stack of 3,907,000 puts him nearly 1 million in front of Hansen, who is in second with 2,929,000.

The field played down to 17 from the 55 that started the day. Hitting the rail were two former WPT World Champions Martin de Knijff and Carlos Mortensen. TJ Cloutier, Men NguyenJ.C. Tran and Tom Schneider were also eliminated.

Tom “durrr” Dwan is right behind Hansen with 2,874,000. The only other player above 2 million is David Tran with 2,543,000. Thursday will see the field play down to the final six players for the televised WPT final table. Play resumes at Noon PT.
