World Poker Tour’s Borgata Poker Open Down to TV Final Table

Shortly after 1:30 am ET John Myung was eliminated in seventh place from the Borgata Poker Open and the six remaining players all breathed a sigh of relief. Those six players include a double bracelet winner, Mark Seif, a single bracelet winner, Dan Heimiller, and a young up and coming pro with a chip lead, Vivek Rajkumar.

Rajkumar has 6.48 million chips and is nearly 2 million clear of Seif. The man who won back-to-back WSOP bracelets in 2005 has 4.66 million and is the only other player above average. Those two players combine for an overwhelming 55% of the chips in play.

Playing catch-up Thursday evening will be Heimiller, Sang Kim, Jason Strochak and Andrew Knee. Heimiller has the most experience and with 3.36 million chips, probably has the best chance of upsetting the apple cart. Kim isn’t far behind with 3.08 million, but Strochak (1.65 million) and Knee (1.48 million) will have their work cut out for them.

Getting down to six from 27 players on Wednesday made for some fast-paced action at the Atlantic Cicy casino. The first player to bite the dust was Ted Forrest who got it all-in with pocket aces against the pocket eights of Thayer Rasmussen and watched an eight hit the flop. It was also pocket aces that meant the end of the line for Chris Bell. After seeing a flop of Jc-5s-4h the Seif and Bell got it all-in with Seif holding aces. The Js on the turn gave Bell trips, but Seif managed to catch one of the two remaining aces on the river and eliminate Bell.

Also eliminated from play were Nam Le, Nick Frangos, Steven Dannenman and Michael Binger. Binger’s 10th place finish earned him $65,000 and 57.735 points in the BLUFF Player-of-the-Year race, which is enough to move him into third place, just behind Men “the Master” Nguyen and overall leader John Phan.

The final six players will return to the WPT final table set Thursday at 4 pm ET to play down to a winner. The champion will take home $1.425 million.
