WPT: Ken Adams Leads Foxwoods Poker Classic After Day 1

The Foxwoods Poker Classic has something that no other World Poker Tour event has had this season - a first place prize of less than $1 million.

The 259-player field put the total prize pool at $2,436,930 and first place will pay the eventual winner $731,079. The 165 players who made it through play Friday are led by Ken Adams who bagged up 140,775 chips at the end of the night.

The top 10 chip counts lack any real star power but the likes of Barry Greenstein, David Williams, Mike Matusow and Jonathan Little will all return to play Saturday.

There was a fair number of top players sent home on Friday though. Just before play wrapped up for the night the front-runner for BLUFF Magazine Player of the Year, Bertrand Grospellier bit the dust. Also eliminated was the defending champion Erik Seidel.

The field will return at Noon ET and are scheduled to play another five levels but with such a small field and five days of play tournament organizers may decide to cut play short.
