WPT: Mercier Starts Strong in Seminole Event
- Jessica Welman | February 11, 2012
There appears to be no end in site for Jason Mercier. He left his mark on Day 1A of the World Poker Tour’s Seminole Hard Rock Lucky Hearts Poker Open Main event, finishing the day third in chips.
Mercier was one of the top finishers in the field, which drew a relatively small 125 runners. Of those, 42 survived the day, with Uri Kadosh topping the field with 275,500. Eli Levy ended with 218,500, and Mercier bagged up 176,400 from the 30,000 chip starting stack. Other notables who made it through to the end of the day include Shaun Deeb (112,700), Raj Vohra (90,000), Tony Ruberto (77,100), Fred Goldberg (59,500), Matt Waxman (59,400), Shannon Shorr (51,700), Matt Giannetti (46,200), and Will Failla (22,500).
For the more than 75 players who busted during Day 1A, there is a silver lining, as they can re-enter on Day 1B and take another shot. Some players who busted today but will likely be back in action Friday include Jonathan Little, Kathy Liebert, Tony Dunst, Todd Terry, Matt Stout, Andy Frankenberger, Christian Harder, and Dan O’Brien.
Here are the top ten chip counts from the end of Day 1A of the Lucky Hearts Poker Open Main Event:
