Day 4 of the World Poker Tour Festa al Lago saw chip leaders rise, chip leaders fall, and Annette Obrestad assert her tournament poker dominance as the final 41 players whittled down to just 13 with the Norweigian 21 year-old leading the pack.

When the day began, Steve O’Dwyer was the player to beat with Jeff Madsen and Randal Flowers trailing closely behind him. O’Dwyer didn’t retain the top spot for long though. Early in the day, O’Dwyer dropped a couple of pots and a massive confrontation with Obrestad took a sizable chunk of his stack. She shoved all in on the river with the board reading A82A5 and O’Dwyer tanked for several minutes before folding what he claimed to be trip aces. After O’Dwyer busted out in 25th place, he sought Obrestad out to find out what she had and she informed him she had [Jc7c] for a rivered flush.

Other early eliminations in the day included Barry Greenstein (38th), Tom Marchese (35th), Daniel Alaei (31st), Erik Cajelais (26th), and Day 2 chip leader Matt Affleck (22nd). While those players were busting out, Obrestad and WPT Legends of Poker winner Andy Frankenberger were chipping up. The two ended the day first and second in chips while players like Chad Batista, McLean Karr, Mark Newhouse, and Lauren Kling all made deep runs, but came up short of the top thirteen and Day 5.

The list of survivors headed to the penultimate day of play includes Obrestad, Frankenberger, Michael Benvenuti, Noah Schwartz, Allen Kessler, John Monnette, Bobby Suer, and Madsen, who is aiming to make his first career WPT final table. Madsen’s best WPT finish was an eighth place finish at the Bay 101 Shooting Star event in 2007.

The final thirteen will play down to six on Tuesday and will return for the televised final table on Wednesday evening. Meanwhile, the Bellagio is running a $5,000 buy-in postlim event which drew 82 runners, several of which busted out of the Main Event and immediately signed up for the side event.

Here are the chip counts for the final thirteen players returning for Day 5 on Tuesday:
