WSOP Academy Sends 10 Players to Ladies Event
- BLUFF Staff | June 10, 2007
The World Series of Poker Academy held its first ever WSOP Academy Ladies Event on Friday and Saturday at Caesars Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, and among the highlights from the sold-out event included the Friday Night Tournament in which the top 10 finishers were awarded seats to the $1,000 buy-in World Championship Ladies No-Limit Hold’Em tournament today at the 2007 World Series of Poker.
“Our first ever WSOP Academy Ladies Event was completely sold out so we had a full field of 100 participants in the tournament. It was a great way for them to put into action what they’ve learned during the camp,” said Jeff Goldenberg, whose company Post Oak Productions produces the WSOP Academy. “We’re proud to have 10 participants extend their stay in Las Vegas a little longer so they can compete in the most prestigious poker tournament in the world, the World Series of Poker.”
The top ten finishers awarded seats to the $1,000 buy-in World Championship Ladies No-Limit Hold’Em event are:
Stacy Kopacz - Hopkinsville, KY
Tracy Yochim - Middletown, NJ
Cari Jewett - Boise, ID
Ellen Troncin - Antioch, CA
Gladys Landegger - Tarzana, CA
Stephanie James - Honolulu, HI
Susie Posnock - Oak Park, IL
Robin Slade - Wheaton, IL
Lisa Torres - Fort Gratiot, MI
Antoinette Septer - Bensalem, PA
The first ever poker camp exclusively for women, the two-day WSOP Academy Ladies Event featured world-class instruction by WSOP bracelet winner Annie Duke, poker tells expert and former FBI agent Joe Navarro, female poker pro Karina Jett and distinguished poker instructor and player Alex Outhred. Like all sessions of the WSOP Academy, which are held in cities across America throughout the year, the WSOP Academy Ladies Event provided participants with seminars, live hand demonstrations, interactive workshops and customized handbooks.
The WSOP Academy will hosts its next event, the Main Event Primer, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, starting July 3 and ending July 5 - on the eve of the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event. Spaces are still available for the three-day poker school that is designed to prepare participants for the WSOP Main Event. On hand as instructors will be a team of world class instructors, including past Main Event Champions Phil Hellmuth, Greg Raymer and Joe Hachem, multiple WSOP-bracelet winners Mark Seif and Scott Fischman, Joe Navarro and many more.
Details for all World Series of Poker Academy events is available at www.wsopacademy.com or by calling 1-800-989-WSOP(9767).
