- Jessica Welman | June 7, 2011
The 2011 World Series of Poker is full of facts, figures, stats and records. With so many numbers being crunched day in and day out, sometimes it is tough to see what they all add up to. That is why each day BLUFF brings you some of the more interesting numbers related to the news of the day. Some are factual, some are fun, some are both. Here is the WSOP by the numbers:
0 WSOP Bracelets being awarded on Tuesday. Since the $1,000 No Limit Hold’em event is scheduled to be a five-day tournament, no one is receiving any WSOP hardware on Tuesday.
1 Number of WSOP events Sammy Farha plans on playing this year. Following his WSOP Grudge Match with Chris Moneymaker, Farha said he would only play the Main Event and even skipped Monday’s $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo Championship, a tournament he is reigning champion in.
4 Number of women still alive in the $1,000 No Limit Hold’em event. With 59 players remaining, that figure represents a higher than average 6.8% of the field.
5 Career WSOP final tables for Jason Mercier. At 24 years-old, he is averaging almost two a year.
30 Minutes it took new WSOP bracelet winner Matt Perrins to learn No Limit 2-7 Single Draw. He watched a couple of YouTube videos and got some tips from friends on how to play a half an hour before registering in the event.
3 How old Matt Perrins was when he met friend and fellow 2011 WSOP bracelet winner Jake Cody. The two have been close friends since nursery school.
4 How many of the eight final tables so far featured a British player.
11 How many players will go home empty-handed in the $1,500 Six-Handed No Limit Hold’em event on Tuesday. Day 1 of play almost saw the money bubble burst, but play halted with a little less than a dozen eliminations before the paydays kick in.
16 Percentage increase in participation in the $1,500 Six-Handed No Limit Hold’em event. Outside of the Casino Employee’s event, this is the largest increase in participation so far this WSOP with 1,920 playing this year compared to last year’s field of 1,663.
315 WSOP Player of the Year points for the $10,000 Pot Limit Hold’em winner Amir Lehavot. With his bracelet win Sunday, he is currently leading the race, besting Jake Cody by 15 points.
