November Nine: Nguyen Goes Bust, Senti and Candio Chip Up
- Lance Bradley | November 6, 2010
The players are into their second hour of play at the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event and we’ve seen our first elimination and a key double-up by Filippo Candio.
Soi Nguyen eliminated in Ninth Place ($881,823)
The final table lost its first player when Soi Nguyen shoved all-in on the button for his last 7,600,000 and Jason Senti called out of the small blind. It was a classic race situation with Nguyen holding A

to Senti’s Q

flop gave Senti top set, but also gave Nguyen a gutshot straight draw. Nguyen got no help with the 9
on the turn and the K
on the river sent BLUFF player Nguyen to the rail in ninth place. Senti, meanwhile, effectively doubled up to over 17 million.
Big Hand
Filippo Candio Doubles Through Jonathan Duhamel
Filippo Candio raised to 1,325,000 out of the hijack, Joseph Cheong called on the button, and Jonathan Duhamelk made it 3,950,000 to go out of the big blind. Candio took a moment, checked his cards, then moved all-in for 1,495,000 total. Cheong got a count before mucking his hand and Duhamel called with A
K
and he is in rough shape against Candio’s A

and the aces held to double Candio up to 31,875,000 and drop Duhamel to around 50 million. It was a substantial hit for Duhamel, but not enough to drop him out of the chip lead.
