Dennis Phillips will be one of two November Nine alum to reach Day 2.

Event 32 $2,000 No Limit Hold’em of the World Series of Poker attracted 1,534 players. The typical large fields that dominate the No Limit, low buy-in events have been reaching the money bubble late in Day 1. More than 1,300 players were eliminated before the remaining field bagged and tagged their chips. There are 224 remaining players entering Day 2 and only 171 will get paid.

Phil Hellmuth was officially eliminated during the 6th level, but by making his trademark late entrance he didn’t arrive until the closing minutes of the the 4th level. He may have only played an hour and a half before busting from the tournament and was free to play the 5 p.m. $10,000 World Championship Limit Hold’em (Event 33).

November Nine fan favorite, Dennis Phillips, survived Day 1 and will move on to Day 2 below the chip average with 20,000. His November Nine alum, Kelly Kim, also will move onto Day 2 in even more dire shape with only 15,000 in chips.

With one hand blending to into another, boredom is often a leak in many players’ game. A pretty face helps pass the time, but early exits from Shannon Elizabeth, Tiffany Michelle and Clonie Gowen makes the field a little less easier on the eyes.

Play will resume at 2 p.m. tomorrow and attempt to play down to a final table.
